Background of the Study

An AI-powered chatbot can provide real-time, personalized academic guidance, helping students make informed decisions about their studies and career paths. This study aims to design an AI-powered chatbot for Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, to enhance the academic advising process.
The AI chatbot will utilize machine learning algorithms and natural language processing (NLP) to understand students' queries and provide relevant information on course requirements, academic deadlines, and career opportunities. By offering 24/7 access, the chatbot will enable students to receive timely responses to their academic questions, regardless of the time or day. The system will also be able to provide personalized recommendations based on the student’s academic history, helping students navigate course choices, understand prerequisites, and even plan their academic trajectory for graduation.
At ABU, Zaria, the introduction of an AI-powered chatbot could ease the burden on academic advisors and provide students with continuous support.
